Any ideas? Have you encountered any examples of a person being recorded in two different US Censuses for the same Census Year? 1 June 1860: I "found" a William Fountain, aged 76, born Maryland, with a Delaware born wife, Rebecca, in the 1860 Census in Hancock County OH. 22 June 1860: I also "found" a William Fountaine, aged 77, born Maryland, in the household of John T. Fountaine (aged 70), with no wife, 1860 Census, Somerset County MD. (I "think" these two may be brothers). My theory ... William was "counted and listed" on 1 June in Ohio. He may NOT have been in the household on that date, but was, instead, visiting the household of John. Or he may have been in Ohio on 1 June, and traveled to Maryland, w/o his wife, and been counted again on 22 June 1860. What 'cha think? Roy C Pollitt
