*I have come across a puzzling situation. I hope that some of you researching the Whaley-Carmean families might have a clue as to the solution. Here 'tis: 1880 Census - Sussex County DE -- Cyrus Carmean, age 50, is listed as a widower. 1900 Census - Sussex County DE } 1910 Census - Sussex County DE } Rachel Carmean, born c. 1819, is his widow. The only way Rachel could be Cyrus' widow is if he married her after the 1880 Census, but the Census pages of 1900/1910 seem to disprove that. I am puzzled.
