John Sr. was b. bef 1744, son of Edward and Tabitha (Peale) Franklin. His wife was Sarah Purnell. He died in mid-1810. His daughter Tabitha was the Riley. John Jr. was son of John Sr. He moved to Philadelphia around 1800 and died there by 1810. His daughter Tabitha was born c. 1800 in MD and married William Hawn. They lived in Philadelphia. The plain John was possibly the son of William. That John was b. bef. 1759 and alive in 1782. His father's 1777 will said he was "at sea". He married Rhoda bef. 1780. I don't know what became of him or if he had any children. I don't know who the Jno would have been. Based on the rarity of the name Tabitha, I think it most likely the John you're looking for was a grandson of Edward and Tabitha (Peale) Franklin, possibly a son of their sons Peal or Lemuel, as I do not have any knowledge of those sons' children. Gary ---------- Original Message ---------- There were 4 John Franklins in WOR Bogerternorton Hd. in 1800: John Sr. 45+[bef 1755], John Jr. [b1756-1774], John "of Mo" which I think is Jn with the "o" sign for abbrev. [b1775-1784], and a plain John, also 45+. By 1810 there was only 1--45+[bef 1765]. Tabitha Franklin m James Holloway could have been of the plain John.
Thanks Gary. ( I have a lot of that.) Actually among these connected families Tabitha was a common name. I have a new Idea: perhaps Tabitha Franklin Riley m John Holloway after 1810 and was not the mother of his children. I am checking all my sources now to see if the first mention of Tabitha of John Franklin is in those deeds of 1828 and 1829. Then I will look for death records of the children of James searching for the name of their mother.
