Thank you so much, Faye! How nice of you to mention it. I have a big database, in which many persons I have documented lived in Amsterdam 16th and 17th century. If anyone on the list has colonial ancestors who may be Dutch, they are more than welcome to open a discussion with me. If the subject(s) were from Amsterdam, it's likely that I have the record; if not, I would enjoy researching them. Thanks again! Well, not sure they were Dutch...not sure what they were.. The surname is Paty, Patty, Patey..however I ran across an odd spelling of Pede in old Delaware records somewhere which, theoretically, could be pronounced the same way... any mention of Pede in your database? Well, there is a Dutch surname Pottey, which could sound very similar. What little I have on the ES Pattey family makes them appear English, but who knows. Look for unusual, not-English-sounding names. Provide details of your earliest ancestor of that name, & I'll see if I can make anything of it.
