Between 1889 and 1911 twenty-one 3-masted schooner rams (or "Bethel Rams") were built in Bethel (named "Lewisville" until 1880). The history of these rams is contained in the excellent 1961 book "Sailing Rams" by James E. Marvil, M.D. Over the next year, I plan to do further research on what happened to these ships, only one of which is known to have survived.
