You may well find that your biggest problem is spelling. Jarman is often seen as German, and Trador is Trader (in Accomack it was originally Armitrader). Sometimes I can only find people I know are there by searching first names only with a general year of birth (the census has them wrong often also) and location. It is very tedious, but it works (eventually). If you are using Ancestry, try the Soundex option and use the old search - the new one will give you people in the wrong places and of the wrong age by the millions. I have a brick wall and cannot seem to get past it. John Henry Jarman was born in 1884 in Delaware. He is listed with his family in the 1900 census in Indian River, Sussex, Delaware. Parents: William Henry Jarman and Eleanor Trador I have limited information about him, but have virtually nothing about his parents or grandparents. I hope that someone can help me break through this brick wall. The new Ancestry search is usable *if* you use the advanced search form and tick "Match all terms exactly" (even when searching by Soundex, Phonetic, etc.). If this box (located in the upper left corner of the form) is not ticked, Ancestry generates far too many "matches" for the results to be useful.
