I have been searching and searching for information on one group of ancestors, named Howard, and I am not making any progress. Is anyone familiar with this family? My great great grandmother was named Elizabeth Hines Howard, b. Oct. 3, 1826, m. Henry Prettyman White on Nov. 1, 1842 and lived in Dames Quarter. Her parents were Ebenezer D. Howard, b. Dec. 14, 1799 and Elizabeth "Betsy" Kelly (daughter of John Kelly and Sarah White) and her grandfather was Gillis Howard, b. abt 1765. I don't know where the Howards lived before they moved to Dames Quarter. With names like Ebenezer, Gillis and Hines it seems to me that it would not be too difficult to track them down. However, I cannot find anything more about this Howard family. Are there any cousins, reading this, who can help me? Eleanor

Hi Eleanor I know of two groups of Howards in early MD. There is one from Anne Arundel Co whose progenitor was Matthew Howard of VA ca.1640. There is also an early family of Howards in the Sussex Co, DE and Somerset Co, MD. But I do not know much about their tree. Hope this helps.
