Mike Hilton.....I'm a bit late on this "comment" but since I've had the exact same experience, here's my understanding. The Sussex County DE film copies at the LDS Library, Salt Lake (basically numbers in the 6000's in my experience) are of the very poor quality (the ones I checked were not usable) which you describe. I asked the same question which you ask below, first via e-mail and then in person, of the staff at the Delaware Public Archives and they were aware of the condition described in the above paragraph. Further, the DE Public Archive has re-filmed (some or many, I'm not sure) the Sussex records and the films at Dover (the DE Public Archive) are of usable quality (the particular films in Salt Lake are not, in my opinion). I have recently been to the DE Public Archives and used a number (not all) of the Sussex County records and found them very satisfactory. This may or may not apply also to the other two DE counties. I have not checked them out. Note: Altho the Sussex films which I tried to use, in Salt Lake, were unsatisfactory, this is not a complaint re the LDS Salt Lake Library. Their physical plant and the bulk of their holdings are in excellent, well organized shape, as far as I have been able to observe in several trips there.
