My belief is that you're doing something wrong -- which may most likely mean that the lack of competent user guidance at the site has led you somehow astray. The images should be (well, I'll be stronger: *are*) there. Tell me a few of the citations you get your "unavailable" message for. There is no reason you should be unable to access these from home.
