On a recent trip to Sussex County I found the Deputy Family Cemetery listed in "Sussex County Cemeterys" as (CC-007 & HU-NR).? Located Southeast of Milford approximately 75 yards southwest of Coastal Highway (DE Route 1), 0.3 miles South of Johnson Road (Road 207). After some difficulty I located the site within Cedar Creek Landing, a housing development. It is across the street from 21919 Hackney Circle on a little rise among a pleasant copse of trees in a grassy field.? The field had been recently mown and the site had been cleaned up by someone. The gravestones are all either broken, or laying down flat. I took pictures I'd be happy to share with anyone interested.? Markers include: Ann Mariah, wife of James H. Deputy 31 years, died 01/03/1870 Sarah, wife of Zachariah, 83 years, died 03/09/1878 Zachariah, 68 years, died 12/03/1855 Ken Wiggins Researching Wiggins/Deputy/Short/Clayville/Vincent milheritage@aol.com 410-398-0742
I am a descendant of Sylvester Deputy of Sussex County who married Elizabeth Townsend ca 1725. I would be interested in comparing/sharing information on the Deputy family. Hi Mr. Wiggins: Reading my LDR e-mails today, I noticed your surname. Just two days ago, I was contacted regarding my search for my Roberts ancestor (Alexander Roberts b ca1812 VA). I was told that the maiden name of his wife was Mary "Polly" Wiggins, and I'm wondering if she could possibly be in your line. As a side bar, I think it's interesting that their daughter, Barbara Roberts, married Joseph Okey, who I believe to be descended from the Sussex Co. DE Okey's, through his father, Burton. Would love to hear from you. Laura Logan Frazier _________________________________________________________________ Get ideas on sharing photos from people like you.
