    3. In her Sussex Co will probated 29 Sept 1796, Rachel Prider gave to her friend Solomon Layton "...all the lands that I now own and for my daughter Polly (Smith) to live on said land with said Solomon during her natural life as one of his family..." Scharf says "Prider" is a corruption of "Rider." "Doublin" was granted to John Rider in 1720, containing 543 acres. In 1776, this land was resurveyed for James Prider. James was on the assessment roll of NW Fork 100 in 1785. These are the only two references I have found for a "Prider." Can anyone give me insight into the Prider/Rider tribe and the connection to Solomon Layton? Thank you. Jim Moore Wilmington DE
