I'm throwing this puzzle out, hoping someone has suggestions: The earliest ancestor in one line I am researching is a John Flint, b. 1700-1706 birthplace uncertain, d. about 1770 in Worcester County MD. This man founded a line of Flints who in subsequent generations moved to the midwestern US. Here's the fun part: I have located a John Flint, age 23 in 1722, who was convicted of a crime in Hornsey, Middlesex, England, spent 6 months in Newgate prison, and was transported on ship Jonathan to the US and arrived Annapolis July 1724. I am currently stymied in trying to tie these two stories together to see if this is one and the same man. Can anyone give me advice? I assume most convicts were indentured upon arrival, but I do not know if there would be records to see where convict John Flint ended up. Any leads are most appreciated. Theresa Steeper
