Rt. 113 is a good general border of the Nanticoke River drainage. Small creeks and ditches even cross some parts of 113 around the Redden area. The "Two Guys Site" (7S-F-68) excavated by Del. Dept. of Transportation contractors when the road was made a dual highway is a great example of the drainage area expansiveness. It is right off of route 113 where the creek that at one time did flow to the Nanticoke had dried up over the years but was a part of the drainage. Now, there is only an upland wetlands area associated with that site. A particularly interesting site, as through examining the pollen fossils they have determined that the pre-historic peoples used horticultural techniques to improve the food resources in this part of the Nanticoke Drainage Area. Information on this site as well as others is available on-line through the Delaware Department of Transportation and complete reports are also available in bound paperback copies and frequently available at your local library.
