    3. Hi, Jim, A couple of months ago, I was trying to find information on John Crouch, son of Isaac Crouch and grandson of John Crouch and Ann Toadvine to see if he might be the John Crouch who turns up in what is now West Virginia in the mid 1700's. I had no luck so if anyone can help, it would be appreciated. What I did find was a connection between Isaac Crouch and the Hobbs family. This is what I found then. >From Maryland Calendar of Wills, Vol. 7, 1732-1738, page 210: Joy Hobbs, Stepney Parish, Somerset County Written 16th Mch., 1735 and Proven 30th Apr., 1737 To 3 sons, viz.: Thomas, Joy and Matthilias and their hrs., "Carney's Chance" and "Abington"; shd. son Joy die without issue not having disposed of his land, his portion to revert to the two sons of his bro. I realize these are all abstracts, but they give us part of the story, and for those of us who are limited to on line resources, they are a help. I think Isaac Crouch married Elizabeth Hobbs, daughter of Joy Hobbs and Mary Unknown. I do not know how Thomas Crouch fits in or whose child he was, nor do I know how Mary Layton fits in. I could not find anything about Isaac Crouch's son, John, to know if he is the John Crouch in WV. Children of this John Crouch married into Fornelson, Delay, Wamsley and Nelson families. Jim, I cannot answer your specific question, but think your Elizabeth Noble Hobbs is going to fit into this Hobbs family somewhere. If anyone can offer any help to any of us, I know it would be greatly appreciated by all. The information provided by Becky Miller and John Lyon on the Somerset Crouch family this past summer has been passed on to every person I could find who was working on that family, even some who didn't know that's where they would go. Again, many thanks to you both!
