    3. Wow I bought one many years ago because the surname America was said have been covered in the America book. It was a joke I was embarrassed that I had fallen for this. It is also a form of consumer fraud, and should be investigated. and probably stopped. Dick America >>> "Bob KNOTTS" <raknotts@qwest.net> 10/1/2008 9:22 PM >>> Years ago someone put out a book on the KNOTTS surname. I never saw one, but one of my relatives bought one and said the most notable thing abt it was that the phone number and name of abt every KNOTTS in the US was in it---and not much else! And it IS stopped for a time, but someone always revives it. I have a not-so-usual surname. Year ago, and knowing it was a scam, I sent for one (cost me $20 then) and sure enough, it had all my same-name relatives, addresses and phone numbers. I didn't feel badly, because I'd lost track of a couple, and I knew approximately what I was going to get. Anyone new there? Nope, but hope does spring eternal, and all that. If one is honest himself, I find, it is always a bit of a shock to find that others are NOT! So don't feel badly. They'd lose money on printing costs if the scammers used more populous names... Gotta stick to we unusually named! You did the list a service, anyway---you've warned others this is a scam. Mine was probably in the late 70s....but it's revived a time or two since. Ruth
