I don't know anymore about this topic than was in the newspaper, but I have learned so much about lower Delamrva while "lurking" here on the list most of the time, I thought I should share this in case some of you hadn't seen it or didn't already know about it, especially those who aren't local. There's a Crossroads section of the News Journal that gets delivered on Thursdays in the mail, and it had an article this week about a tombstone survey project happening in Lewes. They are plotting, taking pictures, GPS locations etc. Says they have catologued nearly 7,000 stones, 5,500 names, 30 cemeteries and 10 family plots. Some of the information is in an online database at www.historiclewes.org according to the article. Says the cemeteries currently in the online are Ancient Burying Ground Bethel Methodist Church Burton Family Cemetery Dewey Beach Black Cemetery Ebenezer Methodist Church (Savannah Road) Israel United Methodist Lewes Presbyterian Church Marsh Family Cemetery Paynter Family Cemetery People's Memorial Cemetery Rehoboth Presbyterian Church at Midway (Midway Presbyterian) St. George's AME St. Peter's Episcopal Church Wiltbank Family Cemetery Happy Hunting!
