I'm researching the Fookes family too. I would certainly like to hear which branches of this extensive tree are being actively researched. My GG Grandfather James Fookes was born 1810, in Worcester County. The best information (a few steps above a guess) is that his parents were Joseph and Anna (Gray) Fookes. This is the Joseph who is mentioned in William Fookes 1774 will as the son of James. I can track from Joseph back in time and feel fairly confident that Anna was the daughter of Jedediah Gray. But I simply cannot find any solid evidence, much less proof, that "my James" was actually the son of Joseph and Anna. Reportedly, James had several siblings, including Levern, Gatty, Morris, Robert, Matilda (married James Powell), and Martha (married James Mumford), along with an additional unidentified sister -- but these are not proven either. Do any of these people ring a bell??? I'd like to hear from anyone looking at the Fookes family. Even if not the individuals named above, it would help to look at all of the extended family....
