HI, Some one a way back said to try the Colony spelling for my Culleney family line. Thank you. I now have a new way of looking at my line but need to do more research. While in Alabama archives I looked at Accomack Co and found A book on Revolutionary Soldier and Sailor from Accomack Co., VA "It is ordered to the certified that it appears to the Court by satisfactory proof that James Colony son of George and Samuel Hickman and Polly Hickman, children of Polly Hickman, formerly Polly Colony, daugher of George Colony, are the only heirs at law of George Colony a soldier in the Revolutionary War." 28 Aug 1832. And if the Court items are within the date of the one before or after this next one would be 29 July 1835 and "It is ordered to be certified that it appears to the Court by satisfactory proof that Timothy Colony and Southy Colony, soldiers of the Virginia Continental Line in the Revolutionary War died instate and that Nancy, Sarah and Elijah Colony were their brother and sisters and only heirs at law. - that Nancy is now Nancy Melson. That Sarah married John Parkes and died instates leaving Edmund Parkes, Peter Parkes, Polly Stephens, John Willett, Betsy Parkes, Anna Landin, James Parkes, Sally Churn, Edmund Turnall, Robert Turnall and Sarah Turnall her only heirs. That Elijah Colony (brother of Southy & Timothy) died intestate leaving Caty Colony, ,John Colony, Susan Colony, Comfort Thomas, Henry Colony, Sally Colony, William Colony, Elijah Colony, Thomas Bull, Elisha Bull, Fanny Bull, James Colony, and John W. Colony his only heirs. Another ordered lists more Colony and Satchell family member which have a Sothy name also. What does this mean...Betsy Colony daughter of Ester Satchell(who was devisee of Southy) died instate leaving Zippa COlony, Polly Lewis, Esther Colony, William Colony, Betsy Colony, James Colony and Sukey Colony. I believe this to be a Court document dated 29 July 1835 too. Has anyone any connection to Colony line in Accomack County? Mary In Alabama
