    3. Here is a transcript of a Power of Attorny from Archibald Smith [1736-1799] of Georgia {Hancock County} to sell part of Bacon Quarter. This Power of Attorney concerns a two tracts, containing 137 Acres that formed part of Bacon Quarter which he had previously sold. Immediately following this power of attorney is a quitclaim deed followed by another quitclaim deed to this land. WORCESTOR COUNTY MARYLAND DEEDS R: 138-139 ARCHIBALD SMITH OF GEORGIA TO GEORGE JAMES & JOHN MADDEX Know all men by these presents that I Archibald Smith late of Worcestor County but now of the State of Georgia do hereby ordain constitute and appoint George Jones and John Maddex or either of them of Somerset County of the said State of Maryland my true and lawful attorney or attorneys for me and in my __- and stead and in my bane to do and Execute and act or acts deed or deeds to transfer make over and confirm unto John Anderson or his assigns forever all and every the tracts or parcels of land being part of Bacon Quarter situate lying and being in Worcestor County aforsaid contained and limited by the bounds causes and customs folowing that is to say: Beginning for one tract at the end of the 81st and the beginning of the 82nd line of the whole tract it being a corner line of Solomon Smith's part of the said tract called Bacon Quarter and running thence south 57 Degrees west 12 Perches South 15 West 112 perches South 60 West 16 perches south __ East 10 perches South 50 West 20 perches South 88 __- 18 perches south 74 west 26 perches North 18 perches South 79 East 34 1/2 perches hence to the beginning containing 84 Acres more or less. And beginning for one other tract or parcel of land at the first boundary of a tract of land called Myrtle Grove and running thence South 20 Degrees East 8 perches South 2 Degrees 15 Minutes West 66 perches South 16 Degrees 44 Minutes East 14 Perches South 73 Degrees 30 Minutes East 62 perches North 50 Degrees East 46 perches South 14 East 2_ perches south 50 West 34 perches North 73 Degrees West 87 perches North 45 Perches North 65 West 110 perches North 39 West 52 Perches North 28 East 6 perches South 89 East 83 perches North 18 perches thence wsith a straight line to the beginning containing 53 Acres more or less. Hereby ratifying and confirming every act and acts deed and deeds which shall or may be done by said attorneys or either of them on the premises for the above purposes hereby declaring the same to be good and effective in Law and Equity as aforsaid was present and did them myself. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of May in the year 1795. Archable Smith Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Thomas Hearne John Parker Worcestor County } To with John Parker came this day before me one of the Justices of the Peace for said County and made oath on the Holy Evangelists of ALmight God that he is a subscribing witness to the within Instrument of writing and that he saw the within named Archibald Smith sign and seal the same and also that he saw Thomas Hearne the other witness sign the same as a witness at the same time. Swirbn before me this 6th day of May 1796. Boaz Walston March the 29th Day Anno Dominio 1796 then were delivered unto me the subscriber the foregoing power of attorney in order to be enrolled among the records of Worcestor County which said Power of Attorney together with the Probate thereof endorsed and accordingly recorded among the same Records in Lib R folio 136 & 137.
