I believe this is the first mention I have seen on this site of an Owens. Does anyone have anything on a John Owens ca. 1704 - 1728. My ancestor first appeared in Pasquotank Precinct in 1728 when he bought "210 acres in Pasquotank Precinct on east side of Allegator River". I don't know where he came from but thought I would ask since there appear to have been Owens on the DELMARVA Peninsula. Jean The area you have mentioned for your John Owens is in NE North Carolina. Pasquotank Co is (currently) on the north side of the Albemarle Sound. The Alligator River flows through Tyrrell Co and into the south side of the Albemarle Sound. I live in this section of NC and know that the Owens family name is widespread and ancient in these parts. I do not know if there is a connection between the Owens families in MD and NC. But there was a good deal of migration between MD and NC at that time because a distant (many)g-uncle Hugh Tingle, Jr. did move here in the 1740's.
