Yes, thank you Richard I know where all these areas are. My reference about the land John bought was a direct quote. This deed is dated 1729 which was about the same time Tyrrell was formed. Tyrrell Co. was formed in 1729 from Chowan, Bertie, Currituck and Pasquotank. I imagine there were a lot of deeds that did not reflect the name of this new county. If you know of any Owens in the area before John Owens arrived there ca. 1729, I would appreciate that information. I thought I successfully connected all of the Owens to John but, of course, there is always the possibility there was an earlier one. I really don't have any idea where John came from but I know several of the early northeast NC lines originated in the DELMARVA area, so I thought it was worth a shot. Any help or leads is very much appreciated.
