This is my first time posting, and I hope that I am doing it correctly. If not, I apologize and please let me know. Through wills and land sales, I have identified the children of the people on the subject line above as: Ebenezer Manson Waller 1824 - 1891 who married Sallie A. Bradley, William Waller 1820- 1883 who married Amelia Dashiell, and Mary E. Waller 1829 - 1849 William is my 2nd great grandfather and lived in Salisbury, Maryland. His obituary stated that he came to Salisbury from an area very close by. My guess is that it was Mardela Springs where there is a Wallertown Road. He was struck and killed by a train in 1883. Ironically, William's son, Clarence Waller, who worked for the Easter Shore Railroad, was on the train, got off to see what the disturbance was when the train stopped, approached the body, and realized that it was his father. I know a lot about Elizabeth Giles, daughter of William Giles and Gainer William. Unfortunately I have not been able to find anything about George. Can anyone give me some insight or guidance as to whom George Waller was and to whom he was married. ? Much appreciation is given for any help. Regards, William Kennedy Waller 10-08-1946 [email protected] Have A Very Happy Day :)
Ken-perfect post-had all the pertinent data. I believe the parents of George Waller to be George Waller (1750-1806) and Eleanor Lowe (1758-1830). Both have births recorded in Stepney Parish Records. Both left wills in Sussex County, DE. Eleanor names grandson William, son of her son George. You should be able to follow back from them without too much difficulty.Becky
Hi I am supposedly from George Jrs' older brother [see below]--Richard m. Rachel. This lineage is in "The Cheaapeakers", by Charles Waller, also there is a series done by Riggins & Lyons on a lot of Delmarva families--I think it is called Colonial Families. Salisbury has a wonderful genealogy section at the Salisbury University-Nabb Center where they may have more records you seek. There is Waller Road west out of Delmar, where a number of Wallers lived, some also came from Hebron. According to our history, a lot of Waller property (originally in the Nanticoke 100) was 'divided' when the Mason-Dixon line defined MD-DEL lines in late 1700's--there is a marker at that SW corner. I have not heard of Wallertown--is it the same area? As well, my GGgrandfather Waller worked on the area railroad in late 1800's, injured his foot, and then started a lumber business after that. IV. George Waller and Eleanor Lowe (daughter of Ralph and Ann Renshaw Lowe). [Will of George Waller probated Nov. 10, 1806 in Sussex Co., Delaware, names 8 children] Children: James Lowe b. 1775, m. Hull (or Heill). Nancy b. 1778, m. Ebenezer Cottman Waller. William b. 1780 d. by 1820. m. ???, had 2 sons, William & E. Manson (name of Manson Waller Home p. 122—it is 4 miles east of Delmar, about 200 years old) Richard b.1783 1st m. Rachel Waller in 1844 (cousin—daughter of Richards’ brother Thomas Waller) 1844(?), 2nd m. Elizabeth Hearn; d. ? Ebenezer b. 1785 d. 1808. George, Jr. b. 1788 d. 1843, m. Elizabeth Giles, 1816. Thomas b. 12/29/1793, m. Nancy Wilson Waller b. 1/7/1806 (cousin—daughter of Jonathan Waller b 3/28/1773, d 3/6/1842;m. Rachel Wilson Waller b 1773 d 1871).p. 131 Benjamin Franklin Waller, Sr Patty Ann b. before 1806, died young from measles. Hope this helps. I look forward to comparing notes! Hello Anne - Thanks for getting back to me. As I said, this is the first time I have worked with this, or any, mailing list so I was, and still am, a little nervous. So, before I go in to any details about a big mistake I made in my posting, would you confirm back to me that only you are seeing this. That will save me a little embarrassment when I tell you of my dumb comment. I will respond to you, however, that Wallertown road is just off of route 50 in Mardela Springs, which is maybe 10 miles north west of Salisbury. See website: https://www.bing.com/search?q=wallertown%20road&pc=cosp&ptag=C1N0002D011215A316A5D3C6E&form=CONBDF&conlogo=CT3210127 I do live near Salisbury and have been to the Nabb Center. It was several years ago and it has now changed its location within the University. I look forward to responding to you so I can reask my intended question that I posted. I would be delighted share information about another branch of your tree, that being about George and Elizabeth descendants. The whole idea of a list serve is that we all have the ability to respond to a post if it is pertinent to us. More minds and data are better than one. So, sorry to say it but we all see your posts. ???? it's ok though we've all made dumb mistakes. You should be able to go to her reply and see her highlighted name and click on that. A box with only her name in it should come up. That sjould be a private email. Anything which says to lower Delmarva Roots goes to us all. Again, welcome newbie ???? Ken, we've all been there.
