Elaine, I have referenced the monograph, Monye Creek and Worcester County, MD Descendants, compiled by Mary Frances Carey. On page 58 she lists children of Levin Carey as Eleanor Fooks/Williams, Sarah Brown, Levin (of Levin), William Sr. who married Margaret, Thomas, Leah, Bridget, and Priscilla. Levin Carey (the father) was cited by Carey as having been born ca. 1708 (see pg -14). She also names Eleanor’s children by her first marriage as Nancy Fooks and Jos. Fooks. Other info is included about the line. Levin Carey's (b. ca 1708) father was William Carey, and his was Thomas Cary, the (MD) Immigrant, whose name first appeared in MD records ca 1666. s/Helen Helen Carey In a message dated 8/28/2010 7:38:19 P.M. My 4th Great grandmother was Eleanor who served as the executor of her husband James FOOKES in June 1772. It is thought -- not proven -- that she subsequently married Samuel WILLIAMS and is (thus?) the "Elender, wife of Samuel Williams" named as a daughter in the 1783 will of Levin Carey. The Levin Carey will also names a granddaughter, Nancy Fookes, perhaps increasing the likelihood that Eleanor Fookes/Elender Williams is one and the same person and, thus, originally Eleanor Carey. Hmmmm. It you count the assumptions, this isn't much.........but I'd certainly appreciate hearing from anyone who can help clarify this.
