    1. [LDR] another example re checking the original will - Charles Banister (Bannister)
    2. I am not living a charmed life but yet maybe I am! Keddie has abstracted the will of Charles Banister as follows: Folio 166 CHARLES BANNISTER 04/01/1782 07/16/1782 (Somerset County) Bequeaths to: 1. Leah Bannister --wife -all estate both real and personal during her natural life. 2. Sally Bannister Bowen --sister (wife of Capt. William Bowen of Worcester County) -to have estate both real and personal after widow's decease. -if she has a son then all land goes to him 3. Sally Bowen --niece (daughter of Sally and Capt. William) Milly Bowen --niece (daughter of Sally and Capt. William) -all estate to be divided between them is their mother does not have a son Witnesses: James Elzey Randall Revell Sally Hayman For all sorts of reasons I was having trouble with the above abstract regarding the alleged person Sally Bannister Bowen. In fact I knew from other deeds and wills that Ann, sister of Charles Banister not Sally had married Capt. William Bowen. Yet the will continued to trouble me and no so called original was online for easy viewing since it was probated after 1776/7. The problem was resolved in a very lucky way when I found the following deed (which fortunately had not been de-linked by Md. Land records). The will itself is clearly described in the deed and says what I assumed it "should" say. 1814 Deed between John B. More and Sarah his wife, Mary Bowen, Nancy Bowen, Marton Bowen and John Bowen all of Baltimore county (which said Sarah, Mary, Nancy, Marten and John) are the children of Wm. Bowen and Nancy his wife ... Whereas Charles Banister of Somerset County by his last will and testament 1782 bequeathed as follows: I give my wife Leah all my estate real and personet I give and bequeath unto my well beloved sister Nancy Banister alias Bowen wife to Capt Wm. Bowen of Wo Cty all my whole estate real and person to her and her heirs forever; my land to her son if she has one...or to SALLY and POLLY Bowen (aka Milly) daughters of Capt Bowen...and whereas Nancy Banister alias Bowen afterward had by the said Wm. Bowen the following namely Mitchell, Nancy, Martin William and John ( and the said Mitchell and William have since died intestate and whereas doubt as to which of the surviving children of the said Nancy Banister Bowen the property will descend to at her decease and as it is the material wish and desire of Sarah Moore, Mary, Nancy, Martin and JOhn Bowen that the same should be respectively (after the death of their mother) be divided in equal portions....so this intenture witnesses JP 2 1814-15 Somerset County folio 0349. It should be noted that this Sally Bannister in fact married Thomas Evans (per another deed relating to similar land)
