    2. Joni and Jay: Joni, I referred to the web site which Jay provided and I too saw that William and Sarah ____ Collings had daughters Hannah and Mary, in addition to other children. ( Hannah was the wife of Ebenezer Carey and mother of the Zachariah Carey I am researching.) I have located an abstract of a copy of the will of William Collings as of 3 March 1775, probated 15 March 1775, Sussex Co., DE, Liber B, folios 553-556. Heirs include wife Sarah; sons John, William, and Matthias Collings; daughters Sarah Collings, Ann West (wife of John), Hannah Carey (wife of Ebenezer Carey), Mary Wharton (wife of Francis), and Rhoda Darby (wife of Samuel). Witnesses include Thomas Carey, likely a brother of Ebenezer Carey. Joni, you asked if Hannah Carey’s sister Mary was the same Mary ( 1746-1785) who, according to your records, married Samuel Truitt and also Jonathan Milman. Next, Joni, you mentioned having two Carys (sic) in your Tree, Barsheba and Elizabeth. I have referred to SOME OF THE CAREY LINES OF SUSSEX CO., DE, compiled by Alfred B. Carey. He referenced two different Barsheba Carey/Carys on pg. 69. Among their childrenT homas Cary and wife Elizabeth Waples had daughter Barsheba (b.12/1/1739), said to have married Elijah Truitt. They also had a daughter Elizabeth Cary (b. 1755). Another child of Thomas and Elizabeth Waples Cary was Edward Cary (b. 1737) who in turn (with wife Susanna) also had a daughter Barsheba (b. 1773). However, according to Alfred Carey's monograph Barsheba and Elijah Truitt had children Joseph (b. 3/16/1760); Charity (b. 7/5/1776); Benjamin (b. 4/2/1779); and Thomas (b 8/30/1773). Thomas Cary is cited as a grandson of Edward Carey who is believed to be a son of Thomas Cary, the (MD) Immigrant, who first appeared in MD records in 1666. The father of Thomas Cary is also named Edward. Finally, I found a reference in the Sussex Co., DE, Probate Records to an Elijah Truitt, Yeoman, for Articles of administration, to Joseph Truitt. Administrator’s bond dated Jan 25, 1781. Arch vol. A102, p. 107. Perhaps this might be a link to a resource of interest. It seems that this Elijah Truitt died without a will, so there should be other related records. s/Helen Helen Carey _______________________ In a message dated 8/28/2010 10:03:36 P.M. She married Elijah Truitt in 1760. Unfortunately, that's all I know. I don't know when Elijah died; she could have been married if he died early. She had Joseph and Elizabeth by 1763. The next child was 10 years later - could be a new husband? Don't know yet. But maybe this could help someone. I am interested in Barsheba Carey. I have a g-g-granduncle Isaac Thompson whose wife was named Barsheba, according to his will. Could this be the same person. Dagboro Hundred. Jay Thompson just an old genealogy nut too tough to crack. ________________________________ From: Joni Rabena <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, August 28, 2010 1:03:49 PM Subject: Re: [LDR] Zachariah Cary/Carey Helen, Do you by any chance know if Hannah Collings was the sister of Mary Collings (1746-1785) who married Samuel Truitt and Jonathan Milman (not at the same time). I have two Carys in my Tree, Barsheba and Elizabeth but not much info on either of them. It should read: Seeking information about ZACHARIAH CARY/CAREY, one of 7 or 8 children of Ebenezer Cary (1734-1793) and Hannah Collings (sic). Ebenezer appears to have been a grandson of John Cary, the latter having come from MD to Sussex Co., DE, on or before 1695. Records reflect that John was one of the sons of Thomas Cary, the Immigrant, who first appeared in MD records about 1666. Also, Ebenezer's father is noted as Thomas Carey, Sr., who died about 1767 s/Helen Carey [[email protected]}

    3. Hi, I believe the Sarah who marrried William Collins was Sarah Derickson. The John West who married Ann Collins is likely the son of Thomas West(c1700-1761), son of Thomas West(d1708) of West's Recovery. While I can't definitively prove it yet, the William West who is brother to the Thomas of 1708, is likely my line leading down through a son William to my 4th great grandfather Kendle West. That relationship fits in with the letter which Amos West wrote to Kendle West in which he referrred to Kendle as "cousin". Amos(father Elijah) is from the Thomas West(d1708) line thru George, brother to Thomas and William. That would make him second cousin to Kendle West.
