    1. Re: [LDR] Indian parentage...question

    3. I did some genealogy for a client in LA. It was illegal for a white man to marry an Indian that early. They did however live together as man and wife, had children, and used the man's name. I don't know if this was the habit in other locations.   Freda Daniel --- On Tue, 9/14/10, Nancy Hamilton <[email protected]> wrote: From: Nancy Hamilton <[email protected]> Subject: [LDR] Indian parentage...question To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, September 14, 2010, 9:25 PM Can any one answer this for me?  If in about 1750 if a white man married/lived with a Native American (Indian) and had children....and if his daughter had children, would his grandchildren take the mother's last name because she was considered Native American? If no one knows the answer, or if it varies according to tribe, could someone suggest a resource for me to check out? Thanks very much.
