There is an article in The William and Mary Quarterly Third Series, Vol. 39, No. 4 (Oct., 1982), pp. 628-654 titled "Gods Candle" within Government: Quakers and Politics in Early Maryland that has a list of "Quaker justices with their dates of appointment and probable service" (p. 634). For Dorchester , Stephen Gary (1668-1678) is one of the Quaker justices listed. It also says that he served as sheriff of Dorchester from 1678-1682 (p. 635).
