    1. Re: [LDR] Levi Ball
    2. These people are a nightmare. As for the Nottingham book, that information is from the orders of 1832-1836, at which time many of the people you really want are already dead. Sadly, they were fond of recycling names to confuse the issue. Also, the Seegar (or whatever) was not necessarily FROM the Eastern Shore, but he did have heirs who lived here. So, that information isn't really a lot of help. To add to the confusion, Hannah, widow of one of the Levi's, married James Ball of Samuel 18 Nov 1816. This James (19 Oct 1820) left his estate to Hannah for her natural life, and then to his two "cousins" Nancy & Levi Ball (this is at least the 3rd or 4th Levi, I am losing track of them!). There is not much on these people in Accomack records, so I would guess that their land was on (or across) the MD/VA state line. The Invy record for James mentions Jesse B. Ball and Levi Ball (guardian David K. Baker) as per statement Lemuel P. Spence, recorder of wills for Worcester County. So, it looks as if this James of Samuel had a son named Levi as well as one named Jesse, unless they were his stepsons which is also possible. In Nov 1824, there was a deceased Thomas Ball, whose administrator was Christopher P. Ball. Buyers included a James and a widow who seemingly had no name of her own.
