    1. Re: [LDR] Pigg Pen Branch
    2. When I was growing up, I remember hearing about an area just south of Selbyville (almost on the line) that was called Pig Pen. (I think this is along Hotel Road now) There is a branch along the south side of that road. I believe that is called Pig Pen branch but I have no proof of that. The land grant that I read 'Pig Pen Branch in was for a John Hutson and called Johns Luck 1743 (1744) In a message dated 6/28/2010 11:35:41 A.M. I believe this tract was in DE after 1776, w of now Selbyville at the state line. Pig Penn Swamp is mentioned in David Murray's 1797 deed for "Cow's Quarter " and described as "Cow Quarter" 100A bought fr Dagworthy Jones for 60#--low ground NE of Pigpen (I think I have seen this as Pigeon) Swamp E of Pocomoke River near land surveyed for Erasmus Harrison. ( CQ pat 14 May 1760 by William Stevens MSA) My sense is that Cow Quarter was south of now Gumboro Rd (Cypress Swamp Rd) Another mystery: where is the Cow Quarter pat 14 May 1760 by John Mumford in Dryden--no description? -- Marjorie "Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars."~ Henry Van Dyke *************************************** QUESTIONS about POSTING GUIDELINES, SUBSCRIBING or UNSUBSCRIBING?
