Beck/Nancy; I read with great interest your posting on the Dayton family line. My great grandfather was Otto Dayton from Elliott's Island. My records are tucked away at this point as my wife is consigning me to the third floor of our home/store here in Reid's Grove, so I do not know the complete lineage. There is also a William Dayton in this line that lived on the neighboring farm to the Lewis' at Lewis Wharf. I am not sure of "complete" connection but I to through this line (Otto and William) am connected to Thomas Dayton and as Becky has said he seemed to "ooze" up from the marsh. One family connection that I have laughed about over the years is to the Foxwell's of Elliott's Island. My wife was a Foxwell whose family is from the island. I was talking with her grandfather Foxwell one day about who was related to whom? and we discussed the Dayton's from the island. Come to find out Otto Dayton's sister Jemima was my wife's great-great grandmother. My wife and I are also related through the Hughes line in her family as they all came from Hughesville (Bestpitch Ferry), and Willey's Neck (Andrews). There is also a Native American bloodline here on Hughes line that I am trying to figure out was well. Any thoughts on this?
