With a much anticipated break coming, I'm going to delve deeper into my Chandler line which now has cropped up in Worcester County, MD in the late 1700's and into at least 1800 when Custis Chandler, his wife Nancy and an alleged sister to Nancy who was named as Lydia Rodde (numerous variations on the spelling of both the first and last name of Lydia) sold 50 acres in Maryland that was located on St. Martins Neck for 40 dollars. I hope to figure who the father of the two daughters were as I presume they inherited the 50 acres from their father, or perhaps a doting uncle. 1. [LDR] Drummond research in Accomack County
    2. Eleanor Rayl
    3. Happy Holidays from snowy Indiana! It's not sticking yet but we're expecting about two inches by morning. The high winds were more of a problem today than the rain or dipping temps. I took a few days from work earlier this month and drove to the Fort Wayne/Allen County Public Library (Indiana), which has the second largest genealogy library in the U.S. Discovered the published volumes of "Accomack County Court Order Abstracts" compiled by Joann Riley McKey. What a find! Records start in the mid-17th century for Accomack and Northampton Counties, and my ancestor John Drummond appeared throughout, mostly as a juror but sometimes as a witness or a defendant. Tithes and tax lists are also included. From the four different appearance before the court where John Drummond had to state his age, I think I can get closer to his birth year than the age range I've seen between 1630 and 1637. John married Patience Hill, daughter of early settlers Richard Hill and Mary Drake of Hunting Creek. Some of the interesting cases: Deposition of Jno. Drumond aged 40 years: About the end of February at Capt. Richard Hill’s house, Drummond was selling some goods when Wm. Browne came and asked if Drumond would take a parcel of tobacco. Drumond let Browne have some goods valued at 120 lbs of tobacco, which Browne later brought to Drumon’s house. It was mostly very good, large tobacco that his wife said she had saved without her husband’s knowledge. She had hidden part of it under her bed and part in a chest. Signed 18 May 1675, Jno. Drumond. (p.292) pxiii: John Drumond was selling some goods at Richard Hill’s house when William Browne came and asked to have items valued at 120 lbs. of tobacco, which, it turned out, had been stolen. Accomack County Court --21 June 1692 An acto of Parliament enjoined “all Protestant dissenters from the Church of England to signify to the quarter sessions where they live, the places of their meetings to perform divine worship. In obedience to which act, we the people commonly called Quaker, do hereby inform all persons concerned that we do constantly meet on the first day of the week, called Sunday, at our meeting house built for that use near Gilford in this county and on the fifth day of the week called Thursday either at the house of Sara Coe, widow, or at the house of Georg Johnson, deceased, and our montly and quarterly meetings at the house of the said Geo. Johnson.” Signed and presented to court on 22 June 1692, by John Drumond. (p242) pxvi - abstract: By November of 1694, the Quaker meeting house at Muddy Creek (Guilford) had been “lately burnt.” William Nock, on behalf of he Quakers and himself, reported that they had selected Thomas Fookes’ house at Onancock for their place of meeting. Accomack County Court -- 2 February 1696/97 Mrs. Mary Hill sued John Drumond for 3880 lbs tobacco, a “large fat hog” and four hides. Drumond appeared and pleaded that there was variance between the action and declaration--she had declared as the executor of Capt. Richard Hill (deceased). The court dismissed the suit and granted a nonsuit with court costs against Hill; the order of the last court was reversed (p219) Accomack County Court -- 2 June 1697 Mrs. Mary Hill exibited her bill in chancery against Mr. John Drumond, who failed to appear. For his contempt, it was ordered that the sheriff take him into custody till he gave security to appear at the next court. (p241a) ******** Still looking for the parents and birthplace of John Drummond's parents. Eleanor

    1. [LDR] Fisher family descendant sought for Y-DNA testing
    2. Hi List, I'm looking for a direct male-line descendant of John Fisher (b. ca. 1600, Maidstone, Kent, England, d. 1639/40, Northampton/Accomack Co., Virginia) who is willing to have his Y-DNA tested for genealogical purposes. I will pay for the test. Also, if anyone on the list knows Eastern Shore of Virginia Fisher descendants personally and can serve as a "middleman" in contacting them, please let me know. Richard M. Wilson P.S. A Merry Christmas to all!
