    3. Bob -- Having spent much of the last three days reading Dor Co surveys on plats.net (Man, I've got to get a life!), I know what you mean about needing Visine! I doubt that I will get as far west as Hunting Creek. I'm going to start with the tracts found under Dor Co on plats.net, which I don't think covers Hunting Creek, but I could be wrong. I'm trying to be realistic about the scope of my work. By the way, any thoughts as to the present-day names for CORNELIUS' BRANCH and HARPERS' BRANCH? Both flow out of the west side of the Marshy Hope. I've gone so far as to ask professional title searchers at the Denton courthouse if they knew the names and came up empty. Alas. Thank you for your encouragement. 3. Nancy, Thanks for the ancestry tip. I will look for it. I am thinking about signing up for a trial at Footnote. I noticed they just added VT records and I would like to verify the mother of my gr grandmother Angie Hickok Adams. I got Angie's death certificate this week from CO--actually got 4 (grandmo, both gr grandmos and gr grandfa Adams). There were mistakes on several compared to other sources. Also last week got all the property records from Webster CO. clerk's office re homesteaders first deeds and who they eventually sold to. Webster Co. (where Red Cloud is) wins the prize for helpfulness. I have sent to the museum director there copies of my NARA papers on gr grandfather. She says her records show someone else homesteaded the land he bought from the govt.in 1874-1889. It is possible that the original "homesteader" was a previous squatter. At any rate my gr grandparents and grmo fit the def of original NE "pioneer." And there is no question that my gr gr grandmother Phebe Skelton Martin was an original homesteader as well as 2 of her sons, I also just found another son listed as a hh on the 1877 school census and got a wonderful newspaper account of a life on Phebe's homestead by a granddau who wont there to live after her mother (another dau of Phebe) died in IL. In additional to paying for these death certificates I have shelled out $20 for 2 rolls of microfilm from the NE Hist. Soc.: 1. I am gambling that grmo's birth may have been in the Red Cloud paper that the museum director could not read due to poor quality (she is also checking some of the local churches) 2. I also hope to find the source for an article about my Dad's family and horses almost drowning on a flooded street in Hebron. (You know about those newspaper clippings that family save without noting the date and paper!) The Hebron museum found one for me re grandparents' marriage in 1899 in the original Hebron Journal but could not find the one on the near drowning. I am gambling that the museum did not have all the issues or were not as thorough as I will be in searching and that it is the same Journal (typeface of the 2 articles is the same.) I have narrowed the date down to 1903-1905, possibly 1907 as there were 2 children (one had to be Dad who was b 1903), by 1905 there were 3 children, and by Dec 907 they were in CO. Each reel covers 2 yrs and luckily it was 1903-1905. This hobby is getting expensive but I figure since I am not spending money on gas to drive to Nebraska.... How I rattle on, Marjorie p.s. yes, it is so much nicer outside now but it is so dry I can not dig so I am attacking weeds with herbicide and clippers (the later is what I call taming our wilderness.) Also doing some watering, insect control, and cutting back of faded growth. Playing in the dirt is more fun! (As a child I was a dedicated mudpie maker and sand castle builder.) I take it you are going to watch the debate tomorrow night. I think McCain has to show up. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Freda Daniel" <ftdan2@sbcglobal.net> To: "Lower-Delmarva-Roots" <lower-delmarva-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 26, 2008 11:45 AM Subject: [LDR] Noble-Mills I connect to the Noble family through Sarah Mills. 2. Dave (and others): I too have a link to the Benston line, but apparently while they were in Accomack County. I have a citation from Acccomack Co Va Court Orders in 1718, for a Grace, William and Francis Benston...especially one which states that Francis was the grandfather of the orphan child on my Michael NEDON (spelled also in another citation as NEDHAM), the modern version being NEEDHAM. My Needham line migrated after 1750's into Sussex County. For a while during my research, I traced the Francis Benston line back in time, but not forward. See any common connection with the Needham line? Willing to share notes. 3. Hello. List-- This is just to let everybody know that the MDLandRecNet people actually do respond to queries. About four months ago, I alerted them to the fact that a 1772 indenture in their database was missing a page image, one that could not be missing from the original since the reverse was imaged. They sent me a "canned" polite response, and I heard nothing more; I kept checking back, though, and yesterday I found that they had corrected the omission. The reason for the original oversight was apparent, too: both sides of the page in question were numbered "314," so the sequence in the book went 312-314-314-315. Bottom line: always ask! Time frame roughly 1830 onwards in the Delmar DE area In a Phillips family Bible is a birth entry for a James Nelson Collins b. 1 Aug 1857 listing Dennis and Sallie as parents Also on another page is the birth of another son, Robtoert E Lee Collins on 1 Oct 1864 and then the death of Robert E Lee Colllins on 2 Nov 1865 This Bible was probably started by William A.R. Phillips and wife Eliza Waller in 1833, but has some information back to 1760 and the marriage and descendents of Elijah Phillips and Mary (Millie) Donoho. It recorded the death of Jonathan Waller II on 6 Mar 1842. Another entry says something about the death of a Priscilla Loydd in 1852, but I do not have any Loydd's listed in my database and could use help in identifying her family I do not think that either Dennis nor Sallie were Phillips's, and I would like to be able to tie them to the other Delmar families I have listed. I know that "Sallie" was a Waller name It also records Broward, Wilson, Parker, Boston, and Mitchell marriages with Phillips's in the 1800's Ben MacDonald Sun City Arizona Phillips, Waller, Donoho, Wilson, Lowe, Graham, Willey
