    1. Re: [LDR] Delaware Records
    2. Some of Delaware's vital records are available on microfilm thru the Family History Library. More may be viewed at the Delaware Public Archives. The microfilmed records at the FHL include: Births 1910-1923 Marriages 1910-1955 Deaths 1910-1955 More recent years may be viewed at the Archives, restricted by a 40 year rule for marriages and deaths and a 70 year rule for births. Incomplete filings for b-d-m are also available for years prior to 1910 on microfilm both at the FHL and the Archives. Delaware is one of the few states which has permitted the FHL to make its vital records so easily accessible by the public. Even tho it was mandatory for filings after 1910, many persons were not thusly recorded in the first decade or so. We have searched for birth records for a family of 12 children and have found just 2 birth certificates in the years between 1910 - 1920. _http://archives.delaware.gov/collections/vital.shtml_ (http://archives.delaware.gov/collections/vital.shtml) _http://archives.delaware.gov/_ (http://archives.delaware.gov/) _http://archives.delaware.gov/collections/collections.shtml_ (http://archives.delaware.gov/collections/collections.shtml) **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. 2. Delaware did not begin keeping birth or death records until 1915. As to marriage license records, they are hard to find and incomplete and so far as I am aware only available online through Ancestry or Genealogy.com. Many records on microfilm and go back to early 1700s. This is my favorite library. I live in CA. and have been there 3 times. Don't pass it up if you are anywhere near it. 2. I'm looking for information about Kate Blackburn Lane. Katie married my great-grandfather, Harry W. Lane, in April 1893. Their son, Mark, was born October 17, 1894. He died May 21, 1901 and is buried in Green Mount Cemetery, Hillsboro. I've found nothing about Katie since the birth of Mark, other than his tombstone saying he is the son of Harry and Katie. Unless there is an unmarked grave, Katie is not buried next to Mark. Harry remarried prior to the 1899 birth of my grandfather, Ronald Lane. Harry's 2nd wife was Alice McCloud. Harry is buried next to Alice in the Ridgely Cemetery with no Katie nearby. I'd like to know when Katie died and where she is buried. Hi, Jim, A couple of months ago, I was trying to find information on John Crouch, son of Isaac Crouch and grandson of John Crouch and Ann Toadvine to see if he might be the John Crouch who turns up in what is now West Virginia in the mid 1700's. Creditors: Clement Dashiell, H. Waggaman. Next of kin: Marth Hobs, Stephen Hobbs. Administratrix/Executrix: Charrety Hobbs. That's it! I realize these are all abstracts, but they give us part of the story, and for those of us who are limited to on line resources, they are a help. I think Isaac Crouch married Elizabeth Hobbs, daughter of Joy Hobbs and Mary Unknown. I do not know how Thomas Crouch fits in or whose child he was, nor do I know how Mary Layton fits in. I could not find anything about Isaac Crouch's son, John, to know if he is the John Crouch in WV. Children of this John Crouch married into Fornelson, Delay, Wamsley and Nelson families. Jim, I cannot answer your specific question, but think your Elizabeth Noble Hobbs is going to fit into this Hobbs family somewhere. If anyone can offer any help to any of us, I know it would be greatly appreciated by all. The information provided by Becky Miller and John Lyon on the Somerset Crouch family this past summer has been passed on to every person I could find who was working on that family, even some who didn't know that's where they would go. Again, many thanks to you both! 3. Jeanne and Elizabeth, As the cemetery is no longer extant, a colleague of mine tried, with no result, to locate the purported list of markers that were once there. Elizabeth, I am very interested in your small register. Does it list deaths or burials? The Register transcribed by a DAR chapter available on Heritage Quest lists births and marriages but only an occasional death. Please tell me about the register you have. 3. Nancy, Is this a program of the Delaware Genealogical Society? If so, doesn't the Newsletter editor, Judy Bedford, summarize the major points of each presentation in the next quarterly Newsletter? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy M.
