I am off the Flint line of Worchester Co. MD. I never have been able to connect this to John Flint but there is a John Flint who got married in Snow Hill, MD in the 1720's. I can't find my Flint Info., but am still looking. My Grandfather was Joseph H. Flint b. Bethany, Mo and d. FL. I am off his first wife Mabel Thurston. However, just to keep things interesting, there is a certifocate for headrights in Accomack County, VA dated 17 Feb. 1674/5... Certificate is this day granted to Mrs. Tabitha Brown for rights for transportation of 42 persons into this colony whose names are underwritten viz: Among the 42 names is the name of Jon Flint. Maryland I'm throwing this puzzle out, hoping someone has suggestions: The earliest ancestor in one line I am researching is a John Flint, b. 1700-1706 birthplace uncertain, d. about 1770 in Worcester County MD. This man founded a line of Flints who in subsequent generations moved to the midwestern US. Here's the fun part: I have located a John Flint, age 23 in 1722, who was convicted of a crime in Hornsey, Middlesex, England, spent 6 months in Newgate prison, and was transported on ship Jonathan to the US and arrived Annapolis July 1724. I am currently stymied in trying to tie these two stories together to see if this is one and the same man. Can anyone give me advice? I assume most convicts were indentured upon arrival, but I do not know if there would be records to see where convict John Flint ended up. Any leads are most appreciated. I just received my copy of the Maryland Genealogical Society journal. In it they mention a website that I thought might be of interest to some. The website below contains transcripts of every trial heard at the Old Bailey, London, from 1674 to 1913. It can be read on line, free of charge at: www.oldbaileyonline.org. The site is the largest single source of searchable information about everyday British lives and behavior ever published. Since many of our ancestors came from England I thought this site may be useful to some researchers.
Good morning. I have two questions for the list. 1. Last night I tried to post another list of church records from Bethesda Church in Preston, Md. It never came through on my computer, so I listed it again, and that message has never come through yet. Did it actually make it on to the list postings and not on my computer for some reason? Any suggestions on what to do if it did not make it? 2. I have long been searching for the birth records and parentage of Thomas Andrew (Dorchester County 1824). I am trying a different approach now. I started thinking that maybe Thomas was a nickname, or not a first name, so now I am asking for information on the people I believe are his parents, but cannnot prove. William Andrew married Elizabeth Cohee in Dorchester County in 1814. Does anyone have information concerning their children? Thanks ahead for any help you can give. Kari Andrew Farnell researching Andrew, Lomax, Appel, Fischbach
In addition to the church records we found some other documents. If you want more information on these (I will list the names involved), please email me off-line and I can send you more details. Also anyone having questions on any of the church records already posted, feel free to ask. I don't know if I have the answer, but you can try me. One document is a deed from Jessie A. Wright and wife to the Board of Trustees at Choptank. The other document is an indenture (but later refers to it as a deed) and some names listed are: Arthur J. Willis, Caroline E. Willis, Job D. A. Robinson, John Todd, Wm. Gootee, Jacob Andrew, Absolom C. Patchett Kari Andrew Farnell
Kari, if you post at different times, please mention this on each posting; otherwise future lookers might not catch all of them, so the records wouldn't be as useful as if you do identify possibilities with each post. Thanks, lady! Mission of charity there. Hard task, too. rcr > With my last post about the church records, I forgot to mention that some > of these records and ones in the future may be associated with churches in > Bethlehem, Md., Choptank, Md., and Harmony, Md. With my last post about the church records, I forgot to mention that some of these records and ones in the future may be associated with churches in Bethlehem, Md., Choptank, Md., and Harmony, Md. These used to be combined into one charge, but in the mid-1900s, they separated into different charges. Not all of these churches are still in existence. Kari Andrew Farnell
These are first set of records found in the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston, Md. It was at one time the Bethesda Methodist Episcopal Church and very originally known as Fraziers Chapel in Preston, which was originally known as Snow Hill, before the town in Somerset County. This is all I have been able to do so far. Some of the others are not as easy to read so I will post them when I have been able to figure them out. I have a listing somewhere of all of the pastors, but i just need to find it and then I can post their names. These names are engraved into the stained glass windows in our church. 1. Reverend George Williams and his wife Louisa R. Williams. 2. Founders and First Board of Directors: David Sisk, Jacob Wright, Thomas Foster James Sisk, James Andrew, Daniel Cheezum, Benjamin Collison. 1797-1810. Incorporated June 11th, 1810. Erected 1903. 3. ....members of this website would be delighted if you would post your info.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree, but post as much information as you can about them; the old who, what, when, where, why, how, etc. Also, if possible a list of pastors of the church, dates served, etc could further help identification, all the things to make the documentation as clear, sure, and useful as possible. It's also generous and kind of you to think of the list; transcribing exactly is a most painstaking job! Thanks for doing it! Ruth
Kari, How nice of you to transcribe your church's records! I'm sure it will be a help to so many people.... Could you please tell us at which church the information was recorded? Many thanks, Mary Anne
We have recently found some old records in our church building. I intend to post a listing of the marriages and baptisms for which we have found records. What is the best way to go about this. I have "transcribed" about two pages worth so far. Should I just send these two pages in a post to this address since I don't have a website that people can view? Thanks, Kari Andrew Farnell researching Andrew, Lomax, Appel, Fischbach
