Carol, The only clue I can offer is that there is a Hester Ann Marvel born 1849 in Indiana. She was the daughter of Robert Marvel, born abt. 1809 in Delaware, died 1889 in Hendricks Co., IN. He was married 1827 in Muskingum, Ohio to Sarah Wilkins. Some researchers have this Robert as the son of Robert Marvel and Rachel Chase. I have him floating unattached for now. Robert Marvel may have named his daughter after his sister. I have your Hester A. as Hester Ann in my database. Nanette In a message dated 12/22/2008 3:04:24 A.M. Hi, When you get the time I am researching SKINNER. Nancy Washington Twp., Mi.
Hi Kari, I am just now getting in on reading these particular posts. Does the listing you have also cover births? I am looking for the parents of Elizabeth Connelly June 1827-Feb. 27, 1910 in Maryland she was married to Mitchell Williamson April 1809-Jan. 4, 1892; they were married on June 13, 1848 in Caroline County Maryland. I can not find anything on her parents or siblings... Could you please check for me? Thank you, ... and Merry Christmas! Hello Mary, I can't really help you with Betsy (Rebecca) CONWAY as I do not have that much CONWAY/CONNAWAY information. I can tell you that it was John CONWAY (Son to Philip) of the County of Worcester, Planter, who sold the tract called "Spicers Purchase" to Joseph MARVEL on August 6, 1771. The deed was recorded in Liber H, f508-509 of Worcester Co., MD land records. The deed explains how the land was granted unto John SPICER on October 17, 1760. John SPICER conveyed the land (no date given) to Philip CONWAY, who died intestate and was father of the grantor, John CONWAY. John CONWAY was probably not married at the time as no wife appears in the deed. Happy Hunting, Nanette In a message dated 12/20/2008 11:17:53 P.M. For a history of the Delaware National Guard, I'd be interested in any references you might come across to the pre-revolutionary militia (1655-1776). Would like to know more about Swedish and Dutch colonists and Delaware colonists campaigning in the French and Indian War. Because they volunteered for extra training, and also because they volunteered to serve outside their own colony (the common militia could only be forced to serve if the enemy actually invaded the colony), these troops became known as Volunteer militia, or Volunteers. It was these troops who carried Delaware's colors ( in Pennsylvania regiments) in the five colonial campaigns against the French and Indians ‑ King William's War, Queen Anne's War, King George's War, the War of Jenkin's Ear and the French and Indian War. I'd be happy to accept the thinnest of shreds and the smallest of crumbs. Brig Gen (DE Ret) Kennard R.
