Kerry My John Carrow is in Dorchester County in 1734 on Tackett's Lott. Some of my Keys/Kees/Key are there a bit later. Could you look up Carrow/Carew and any variant of Keys and also Tackett I suppose. After Accomac they( Carrow) vanish to turn up in Dorchester and then in Queen Anne MD.Thence to Kent County DE. Thanks and Merry Christmas! This is a gift. Kathleen Carrow Ingram
Kari, I would be interested in any listings for Vaughan/Vaughn before before 1689. My brick wall is with William Vaughan b.1689 in Somerset Co. Md. Where his parents came from or who they were is a mystery. I realize that this is the period before Wiliam Penn when the Dutch, Sweeds and English each had been trying to gain control of the territory and pirates were operating on the Delaware river. I am also aware of the migration of settlers into NewCastle and Sussex County (Deale) around 1670 from Sumerset Co. MD and VA into DE where my family ended up near Dover and my family are still land owners. Family records show up in Sussex County later which was not offically named until 1680 and Kent County. Then in 1682 William Penn encouraged emigration from Europe by selling land in DE to hundreds of emigrants. So this period was very busy. Being from afar, (Oregon) I can not visit the archives and follow the trails easily. I really appreciate the resources available to the members here. My records are fairly complete (FTW) since then. Thanks much to all, Ed Vaughn www.vaughnfarm.org Kari Farnell wrote: >I have also recently obtained two books from Dorchester county. Joe, Marge, and Kathy, So I don't leave you wondering...there are several listings in the Tombstone Records book for each of the names you guys requested. I have to go out this morning, so it will be this evening or tomorrow morning before I am able to get all the listings done. Thanks, Kari Andrew Farnell
Jim, There is only one Downs/es listed in the tombstone records and I don't think it will help much, but her goes...Daniel S. Downs (no dates) in the East New Market Cemetery. Clare, I have no problem doing the look-ups, I'm always hopeful of helping others track down their brick walls, even though the books I purchase never seem to help me. Oh well, that's the way the Christmas cookie crumbles. In the marriage abstracts book, there is John Ball and Mary Rainey, 06-01-1747, and Thoams Ball and Mable Dawson, 04-06-1741. Listed in the Index to Wills are: John Ball (liber/folio) 31-289, date 1761, and Thomas Ball , felt maker, (liber/folio) 18-29, date 1722. Unfortunately neither of these or any other Balls are listed in the will abstract book I have. Nancy, 1. In the marriage records, there is Thomas Skinner and Mary Connakin, 01-19-1747/8 an William Skinner and Ruth Tanner, 05-14-1744.2. 2. In the Will abstracts is the following: Richard Skinner, Gentleman, 24 oct. 1745. 20 May 1746 sons Andrew and Richard all lands lying between St. Michaels Ricer called The Bear Point Creek otherwise called Leeds Creek; son Andrew land to southwest side Northern line; other to son Richard. son Daniel land called Adventure in Dorchester Co. south side Great Choptank River. Dau. Mary and Dau. Elizabeth 1 negro over and above child's part of estate. Wife Katherine shall enjoy all lands given to 3 sons; Andrew, Richard and Daniel until age 21. Wife sole executrix. Signed: Richard Skinner. Witnesses: Jo. Hopkins, Robert Spencer, Elizabeth Hopkins, and Mary Spencer. Source: Wills. Liber 24. ff. 390/1. 3. In the index to wills, the following are listed: Andrew Skinner (liber/folio) 14-557, date 1717, Elizabeth Skinner, Jr. (liber/folio) 29-498, date 1755, Richard Skinner (liber/folio) 24-390, date 1746 (I believe this is probably a reference to the will abstracted above), Thomas Skinner (liber/folio) 36-474, date 1768, William Skinner, Jr. (liber/folio) 23-313, date1743, and William Skinner (liber/folio) 29-197, date 1754. Hope something here helps. Incidentally, this Daniel Skinner above, given the land in Dorchester County, may actually be a descendant of my husband's family. Gwen, The books I have are from Talbot County and none are birth records, but following is the listings of Connellys that are in them. THe will abstracts book has several possible listings under Connerly (Connully). These are all dated between 1744-1753. The given names are: Terrence, Elizabeth, James, John, Mary, Sarah, William. It appears that this Elizabeth is the daughter of Terrence, but his will is dated 1750, so it is not the same one you are looking for. Let me know which ones, or all, of these abstracts you may want and i will send them to you off list cause it may be a long post.
