    3. Kari Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year of finding those elusive ancestors. If possible - can you see if there are any America names? Thank you much Dick America >>> "Kari Farnell" <klaf@dmv.com> 12/23/2008 8:28 PM >>> I don't think any of the records I have go that far back. In the Index to Wills, it does list a William Vaughan (presumably the one you mentioned). It is liber/folio 14-416, dated 1717. Additionally, there is only one Vaughn in the Tombstone record book. 3. Ed, I know this is late and I have been tied up working a lot of overtime at the water plant but I am certain that the William Vaughan you reference was the son of a William Vaughan & Margret ______ who were in Somerset County, Maryland in the 1670s. You can access the Maryland State Archives Online to glean some information about William Vaughan by typing "William Vaughan". Just curious but what kind of Eastern Shore records are available in Oregon? I live in Bossier City, Louisiana and the nearby Shreveport Library has a fair number of records, the Calender of Wills up to 1777, Somerset & Worcestor Co. Md. Wills, some Sussex Co, Delaware records including court records, ect. I descend from William & Mary Vaughan and am going to type up full transcripts of the deed records that I have been able to find on Maryland Land records. net. I was very pleased with the Somerset Co. Maryland records much better than the LDS microfilm. 3. Joe, Thank you for the information regarding Sussex County, Delaware. I think that I will probably make the trip in person to the Delaware State Archives in another year or two. It is a shame that the deed books for Sussex County that the LDS has are in such poor condition but they probably microfilmed at least 60 years ago and possibly a few years prior to that. I was actually able to get one deed in fair condition from an ancestor of mine John Gordon & his wife Ruth that was fairly legible. Everything else not so good. I've been happy looking at the MD Land Records and hope the Delaware Archives does something similar. Thank you again for the information Joe, I really appreciate it. 3. I don't think any of the records I have go that far back. In the Index to Wills, it does list a William Vaughan (presumably the one you mentioned). It is liber/folio 14-416, dated 1717. Additionally, there is only one Vaughn in the Tombstone record book. Frank J. 3. Becky I have not done very much research into Jehu Blades; I do not believe he is in my line. My 4th Great Grandfather was Eli Blades from Dorchester Co. Md, not the Eli Blades from Talbot Co. Md. I have been doing research on my Eli for sometime now trying to locate his parents no luck so far. Sorry I do not have more info on Jehu. 1. [LDR] Parents of Benjamin Elliott (1808-1883) FOUND!
    2. Mike Hitch
    3. I was searching through some old records I had and found an old copy of an Orphan's Court records from 1877 Sussex County, DE that had the following in it: Jacob Elliott is established as father of Benjamin Elliott via Orphan's Court records of Mar 28 1877 (issued Apr 17 1877) where Benjamin petitioned the court to divide lands of Jacob Elliott that were held as dower by Jacob's wife (Benjamin's mother), Sally H. Elliott - Sally having died on Mar 2 1877. The record lists Jacob/Sally's eleven (11) children as Benjamin; Patsy H. Cordrey (wife of Spencer M. Cordrey); Elenor Melson (wife of John Melson, but she is dead leaving four children - Sally and three others unknown); Solomon M. Elliott; Lovey Hastings (wife of Winder Hastings, but she is dead leaving seven children - Julia A. Gordy, w/o John M. Gordy; Jacob Hastings, Irene Disharoon, Elijah Hastings, Sydney Hastings, Mary Hastings, and Sarah Hastings); Samuel Elliott; Julianna Workman (wife of John Workman); John Elliott; William G. Elliott; Mary Collins (wife of Joseph R. Collins); and Jacob Elliott. The record lays out how the lands are to be divided. The record stated that Jacob Elliott had died Mar 20 1841. WOW - I had a record of my ancestors parents all along!!! Does anyone know the parents of this Jacob Elliott (??-1841) - also, his wife was Sally H. (??-1877) - does anyone know her surname? Dorchester County is one of those places where the boundaries changed often in the early years. A very Merry Christmas to you and again thankyou for sharing.
