    1. [LDR] Nancy Carey Fooks
    2. This is just an FYI for anyone who may be looking for Nancy Carey, from Worcester, MD. Last October I was at the Edward H. Nabb Center for Family History and Culture in Salisbury, MD. For some reason I was looking in the Fowke Family Tree book compiled and published by Ray Fowke, Hamilton, New Zealand. In the line for Daniel Fookes (#18AS, Tree B) I found the following: b. 25 Nov 1785 d. ______ m. 16 Feb. 1811 at Worcester, MD, USA to Nancy Carey. “Daniel moved to Cypress Creek, near Paducah, KY with his family about 1830.” Children: James Liburn Fooks b. 1816 Jonathan Fookes b. 1918 Samuel Fookes b. 1821 Annis Fookes b. 1823 Eleanor Fookes b. 1825 Daniel Fookes b. 1828 Leah Fookes b. 1831 I don't know if this will be of help, but thought I'd pass it along.

    1. [LDR] Vincent
    2. Jackie Helmke
    3. This may not connect to anyone but I thought it might. My husband and I have alot of material on the Simonton family. I just was sharing this with someone. William Vincent was the second husband of Nancy Mary Simonton nee Bailey. They married probably in Greene Co GA. They had one child: Charles Albert Vincent. I do not have a birth date on Wm Vincent, however he is buried in the Bethany Presby. Church Cy in Greene Co GA. This was one of the first Chruches and Cemetaries in the county. His tombstone reads William Vincent died 25 Sept 1830, a native of Vermont. Jackie Helmke [email protected] This message has been screened by Norton

    1. Re: [LDR] Carey Family Connections
    2. Elaine, I have referenced the monograph, Monye Creek and Worcester County, MD Descendants, compiled by Mary Frances Carey. On page 58 she lists children of Levin Carey as Eleanor Fooks/Williams, Sarah Brown, Levin (of Levin), William Sr. who married Margaret, Thomas, Leah, Bridget, and Priscilla. Levin Carey (the father) was cited by Carey as having been born ca. 1708 (see pg -14). She also names Eleanor’s children by her first marriage as Nancy Fooks and Jos. Fooks. Other info is included about the line. Levin Carey's (b. ca 1708) father was William Carey, and his was Thomas Cary, the (MD) Immigrant, whose name first appeared in MD records ca 1666. s/Helen Helen Carey In a message dated 8/28/2010 7:38:19 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Try as I may, I can't make a connection with Zachariah Carey. My 4th Great grandmother was Eleanor who served as the executor of her husband James FOOKES in June 1772. It is thought -- not proven -- that she subsequently married Samuel WILLIAMS and is (thus?) the "Elender, wife of Samuel Williams" named as a daughter in the 1783 will of Levin Carey. The Levin Carey will also names a granddaughter, Nancy Fookes, perhaps increasing the likelihood that Eleanor Fookes/Elender Williams is one and the same person and, thus, originally Eleanor Carey. Hmmmm. It you count the assumptions, this isn't much.........but I'd certainly appreciate hearing from anyone who can help clarify this. 2. Walt and Rene
    3. Hi, I believe the Sarah who marrried William Collins was Sarah Derickson. The John West who married Ann Collins is likely the son of Thomas West(c1700-1761), son of Thomas West(d1708) of West's Recovery. While I can't definitively prove it yet, the William West who is brother to the Thomas of 1708, is likely my line leading down through a son William to my 4th great grandfather Kendle West. That relationship fits in with the letter which Amos West wrote to Kendle West in which he referrred to Kendle as "cousin". Amos(father Elijah) is from the Thomas West(d1708) line thru George, brother to Thomas and William. That would make him second cousin to Kendle West. 1. Re: [LDR] Zachariah Cary/Carey
    2. Joni and Jay: Joni, I referred to the web site which Jay provided and I too saw that William and Sarah ____ Collings had daughters Hannah and Mary, in addition to other children. ( Hannah was the wife of Ebenezer Carey and mother of the Zachariah Carey I am researching.) I have located an abstract of a copy of the will of William Collings as of 3 March 1775, probated 15 March 1775, Sussex Co., DE, Liber B, folios 553-556. Heirs include wife Sarah; sons John, William, and Matthias Collings; daughters Sarah Collings, Ann West (wife of John), Hannah Carey (wife of Ebenezer Carey), Mary Wharton (wife of Francis), and Rhoda Darby (wife of Samuel). Witnesses include Thomas Carey, likely a brother of Ebenezer Carey. Joni, you asked if Hannah Carey’s sister Mary was the same Mary ( 1746-1785) who, according to your records, married Samuel Truitt and also Jonathan Milman. Next, Joni, you mentioned having two Carys (sic) in your Tree, Barsheba and Elizabeth. I have referred to SOME OF THE CAREY LINES OF SUSSEX CO., DE, compiled by Alfred B. Carey. He referenced two different Barsheba Carey/Carys on pg. 69. Among their childrenT homas Cary and wife Elizabeth Waples had daughter Barsheba (b.12/1/1739), said to have married Elijah Truitt. They also had a daughter Elizabeth Cary (b. 1755). Another child of Thomas and Elizabeth Waples Cary was Edward Cary (b. 1737) who in turn (with wife Susanna) also had a daughter Barsheba (b. 1773). However, according to Alfred Carey's monograph Barsheba and Elijah Truitt had children Joseph (b. 3/16/1760); Charity (b. 7/5/1776); Benjamin (b. 4/2/1779); and Thomas (b 8/30/1773). Thomas Cary is cited as a grandson of Edward Carey who is believed to be a son of Thomas Cary, the (MD) Immigrant, who first appeared in MD records in 1666. The father of Thomas Cary is also named Edward. Finally, I found a reference in the Sussex Co., DE, Probate Records to an Elijah Truitt, Yeoman, for Articles of administration, to Joseph Truitt. Administrator’s bond dated Jan 25, 1781. Arch vol. A102, p. 107. Perhaps this might be a link to a resource of interest. It seems that this Elijah Truitt died without a will, so there should be other related records. s/Helen Helen Carey _______________________ In a message dated 8/28/2010 10:03:36 P.M. I was happy to share the Parsons Family ible records. As far as George Parsons, Jr. being the father of Elijah, I found that hrough an abstract of Probate Records of Worcester County, Maryland, found n www.ocmuseum.org . The abstract states that the Will date was October 18, 1782 and was probated anuary 13, 1809. Listed as sons were: Eldest son Jordan, George executor), Elijah. Daughters Nelly, Abigail, Leah. Then sons Jehu and ery. Grandchildren Obediah Dishroon and Tempy Dishroon. There are land arcels left to the sons. I did not have a chance to examine the land records nor the original Will. I freely admit that could well be an error on my part, but this was the only onnection I could find between Elijah and George. When I was working on he Parsons Family, I was pressed for time and I'm sure that I made some rrors in my work. 3. Hi Ginni, Since you have done the West family, I'd love to compare notes some time since I descend from two lines of West's which intermarried in 1822 in the Millsboro, Dagsboro areas of Sussex County, both of which have hit brick walls in the early to mid 1700's. Not even membership in the WEst DNA project, group one , which numbers 16 others members and where I have genetic matches on all but 2 of 37 markers has broken down the walls. 3. Hi, I was just looking through the e-mail below and wonder if these Parsons are descendents of John Parsons and Mary Smith? I have their children as Peter, Nelly, Mary, John, George, Sarah, Zephaniah, and Leah - all born between 1730 and 1748. Joni -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Sunday, August 15, 2010 6:51 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LDR] Parsons Family Dear Becky: You are most certainly welcome. I was happy to share the Parsons Family Bible records. As far as George Parsons, Jr. being the father of Elijah, I found that through an abstract of Probate Records of Worcester County, Maryland, found on www.ocmuseum.org . The abstract states that the Will date was October 18, 1782 and was probated January 13, 1809. Listed as sons were: Eldest son Jordan, George (executor), Elijah. Daughters Nelly, Abigail, Leah. Then sons Jehu and Hery. Grandchildren Obediah Dishroon and Tempy Dishroon. There are land parcels left to the sons. I did not have a chance to examine the land records nor the original Will. I freely admit that could well be an error on my part, but this was the only connection I could find between Elijah and George. When I was working on the Parsons Family, I was pressed for time and I'm sure that I made some errors in my work. However, my late boss was content and in the text I prepared I added a disclaimer stating that even with due diligence errors may have occurred. I would suggest looking at the original Will (if possible) and checking out the land records on the properties listed in the Will. Hope this helps, Teresa A. Derrickon nee Chandler Thank you, Teresa, for posting this valuable information.? <Some background information: William A. Parsons is the son of Elijah Parsons nd Sally Mitcalf.> Ruth T. Dryden, in her Parsons Family, at page 13, shows William A. Parsons as he son of Caleb Tingle Parsons and Elizabeth Simmons, with a birth date of 20 ctober 1812.? Unfortunately, Ruth also shows William A.'s brother, Ephraim, ith the same birth date. Under Elijah Parsons and Sally Metcalf, Ruth shows a son Theodore born 8 July 812 and a daughter, Elizabeth, born 20 Feb 1816. According to your Bible entry, William A. Parsons was born 11 Nov 1814. My interest, aside from just generally, is that Elijah Parsons is the son of my ncestors, George, Sr. and Temperance Sherman Parsons.? I'd like to have William A. in the correct family.? Ruth does not provide any evidence.? Do you have vidence? 3. Helen, Do you by any chance know if Hannah Collings was the sister of Mary Collings (1746-1785) who married Samuel Truitt and Jonathan Milman (not at the same time). I have two Carys in my Tree, Barsheba and Elizabeth but not much info on either of them. It should read: Seeking information about ZACHARIAH CARY/CAREY, one of 7 or 8 children of Ebenezer Cary (1734-1793) and Hannah Collings (sic). Ebenezer appears to have been a grandson of John Cary, the latter having come from MD to Sussex Co., DE, on or before 1695. Records reflect that John was one of the sons of Thomas Cary, the Immigrant, who first appeared in MD records about 1666. Also, Ebenezer's father is noted as Thomas Carey, Sr., who died about 1767 s/Helen Carey [[email protected]} In a message dated 8/9/2010 4:40:35 P.M.
