No doubt most will have noticed that the IGI records that a Francis Lovelock, the son of Edward and Anne, was baptized at Hungerford on 9 April 1751. Presumably this is the man to whom the Drawing Room mantelpiece at Lovelocks House is dedicated. We also have a mention of the Will of Edward Lovelock, dated 1780, that mentions property at Newtown. This is clearly the house in question. Could it be that the Berminster/Beaminster family discovered some information on this earlier owner and thought the name sounded nice!
