    1. Jack Lovelock Statue Unveiled
    2. W Robert Chapman
    3. Dear Cousins: In mid-November a life-sized bronze statue of my father, Dr. Jack Lovelock, was unveiled at his prep school in New Zealand. Commissioned by a fellow alumnus (old boy), the statue was executed by Margriet Windhausen and resides on the campus of Timaru Boys High School. After graduation, Jack began his medical studies at Otago University in Dunedin, and then won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, where he achieved fame as a middle-distance runner. In addition to participating in the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Jack set a world’s record in the mile in a 1934 race at Princeton, New Jersey, and won the Gold Medal in the 1500 meters in world-record time at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. To read about and view the statue, go to http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/ED0211/S00029.htm. On behalf of my late father and our family, we want to wish everyone the merriest of Christmases and the happiest of new years! W. Robert Chapman & Mary R.
