The South Bucks Express has a feature every week entitled Pages in history where they reproduse stories from earlier editions. The following appeared in the paper published on 7th December 1878: " Four women were charged with giving false information to pawnbrokers when pledging articles. John Lovelock, a bricklayer living in Church Street, Windsor found it necessary to caution local brokers against taking articles from his wife. She is in the habit of pawning everything she can get her hands on to obtain money for drink, he said. Mr Lovelock discovered his wife had got women ( including those charged ) to pledge things on her behalf and give false information. The women were all given the choice of a fine or imprisonment if unable to pay." Have a great weekend. John Lovelock of Hedgerley Bucks!
