    1. Re: MI`s MARGAM ABBEY
    2. Hello list, Grave D74. MARGAM ABBEY. The Surname on this grave is in all cases spelt MARENDAZ. and not as reported in Glam FHS MI`s as Marendez. More important is the fact that the bottom line in the same Glam MI`s regarding Catherine does not exist on the stone in question.? That was the reason why I went there to check owing to the same Catherine being mentioned on Grave A20. Margam. The above grave is the grave on James`s site regarding JENKIN BEVAN On James`s site owing to it being taken from a photograph, he has included some ? ?. Here are the missing ? ? in order H.M.Customs. Nov.28th.1896. aged 49 years [ at no. 9 Courtland Terrece Port Talbot.] 25th.September 1913. aged 57 years. No mason`s mark, but it looks very familiar to me? Best Regards Allen in Aberavon.

    3. It really is marvellous to have a "man on the spot"! Many thanks Allen for your graveyard investigation. I'll remove the spurious refereence to Catherine on the Web page with the Margam MIs. This still doesn't explain how Catherine Marendaz shows up in the census records for 1841, 1851, 1881 and 1891, since the MI claims that she died in 1836! Unless David Emmanuel Marendaz married a second Catherine. Thanks a lot for filling in the blanks in the MI for this gravestone (A20). I'll include the details on the Web page. Thanks again Allen! Sunny and cold (-5 deg C in the morning) in Grenoble for the last couple of days, but a bit warmer (4 deg) and cloudier today! Regards, James Ableth@aol.com wrote: >Hello list, >Grave D74.
