    3. Good evening all. I hope I have persuaded a lady by the name of Sian Davies to join the list. Her husband is a Surrey Lovelock whose father was also born in Surrey. His grandfather and any generations before that are proving very difficult to track down. After several probing family interviews Sian now believes that her husband's Lovelock grandfather and great-grandfather may have haled from Malmesbury. I know we have no, or very little, data from Malmesbury, but can not remember why this is. Can anyone remind me, and do we have anybody else with Malmesbury connections who might be able to help Sian out? She is presently able to research essentially only from her keyboard, so this needs to be born in mind. One of the frustrations she has found is that mysteriously none of the 1881 or 1901 Census information seems to relate to these Malmesbury denizens. But I will allow her to amplify the tale. Regards from a Yate enjoying pleasant evening sunshine Graham

    3. Welcome to the Lovelock list Sian. The reason why Malmesbury does not feature is possibly because it never made the IGI or Boyd's Marriage Index or the Pallot Marriage Index. So unless someone had a reason to search that particular parish, it would be left untouched. However, the original registers are available from 1591-1870 at the Wiltshire Record Office. It has not evidentally been filmed by the Mormons so can't be viewed outside the Hampshire RO or the Society of Genealogists in London who also have a copy. There is also evidentally a local marriage index 1590-1837. I'm not sure what time period you're interested in for Lovelocks in Malmesbury. But here's all the Lovelock GRO entries for the Malmesbury Registration District that have been extracted to date: Event Year Surname Forenames Reg District Vol Page Qtr/Mo Age Birth 1865 Lovelock Henry Malmesbury 5a 87 2 Birth 1865 Lovelock Henry Malmesbury 5a 87 2 Birth 1874 Lovelock Alfred Charles Malmesbury 5a 47 1 Birth 1876 Lovelock Albert Malmesbury 5a 46 2 Birth 1876 Lovelock Elizabeth Malmesbury 5a 55 2 Death 1849 Lovelock Ellen Malmesbury VIII 248 4 Death 1849 Lovelock Ellen Malmesbury VIII 247 4 Death 1891 Lovelock George Malmesbury 5a 27 1 15?
