Earlier this week I contacted James Loveluck to enquire whether or not a Lovelock/Loveluck gathering had ever been held or considered. James replied that such an event had never been held but he found it to be an attractive proposition. As our roots appear to be in Wiltshire and Berkshire ( "Lovelock Country"!) this would appear to be the obvious venue. The event would clearly need a lot of forward planning and at the earliest be held in the summer of 2004 or 2005. I would be happy to co-ordinate the arrangements provided I received some assistance from UK based Lovelock Listers. First thoughts on the event (probably held over a weekend) are that it would: * Provide an opportunity to meet other Lovelock Listers ( & distant relatives ) * Provide a forum for exchanging ideas to progress the Lovelock Family History Research * Provide an opportunity to visit places associated with the early Lovelocks I understand that there are 44 people who have subscribed to the Lovelock list, some in the UK and Europe and several in Australia and New Zealand. I am conscious that for some Listers the cost of attending such an event may be prohibitive. However I would be pleased to hear your views via The List on whether or not you think such a gathering is viable and any ideas you might have on the content to ensure that everyone benefits from such a forum. Also I would be pleased to receive offers of help! Anyway I look forward to receiving your views on this proposal.
