Hello all, A couple of weeks ago we exchanged several messages about the Web site www.1837online.com which was advertising a service (with reasonable charges) for accessing images of GRO records. The service is still not available, but on the Web site they claim that they will have permission from the GRO to go on-line on 1 April - see text below from the Web site. I hope its not an April 1st joke! James ------ Updated Friday 21st February 2003. Family Research Link is absolutely delighted to announce that on the 10th February, after almost three years of our ongoing discussions and negotiations with the General Record Office, the decision has been made to relax access to index information less than 100 years old. These changes are due to take effect from 1st April 2003, at which date we will be pleased to open our site to you with the indexes from 1837 to 2001. We hope that you will be as thrilled as we are with this outcome, which we believe benefits the genealogical community worldwide.
