    1. Maps of Lovelock distribution

    3. Hello all, Some of you may remember that some time ago I produced a map showing the distribution of Lovelocks from the 1881 census. I produced this map in a very painstaking way based on raw data which I obtained by querying the census county by county, using a map of counties which I obtained from GENUKI, and colouring it by hand using paintshop or some similar tool. Well I recently discovered that there is now an automatic Web-based tool for doing this! See: http://www.wykes.org/ukdist/ So I have now added some additional maps, which I obtained using this tool. The tool is quite sophisticated and has options for distributions by census place or bithplace and for plotting the population density rather than the raw numbers (Lovelocks attained a peak density of .0010051 in Wiltshire!) I was quite pleased to notice that my hand-crafted efforts looked quite similar to those from this wonderful tool! You'll find these maps linked to the page: Lovelock genealogy -> Lovelock distribution They are also listed on the "What's New" page. James PS I just can't resist gadgets!
