    3. Hello all, While searching through some papers related to my own family history (Glamorgan Lovelucks) I came across a letter to my aunt which contained extracts from parish registers of All Saints Church, Oystermouth (nr. Swansea, Glamorgan) as follows: Baptisms: 17 Aug 1806 (born 26 Jul) LOVELOCK, Rachel, d of John and Mary 18 Apr 1808 (born 30 Mar) LOVELOCK, George, s of John and Mary 5 Aug 1810 (born 19 Jul) LOVELOCK, John, s of John and Mary 14 Jun 1812 (born 27 May) LOVELOCK, Mary d of John and Mary 8 Dec 1816 (born 23 Nov) LOVELOCK, Elizabeth d of Daniel (Gardner of Maels) and Jane 8 Dec 1816 (born 23 Nov) LOVELOCK, Jane d of Daniel (Gardner of Maels) and Jane Marriages: 4 Jan 1816, LOVELOCK, Daniel (bach.) REES, Jane. (Witnesses, Philip rogers, Augusta Lambourn.) Burials: 21 Feb 1809, LOVELOCK, George s of John 17 Mar 1811, LOVELOCK, John s of John 14 Sep 1815, LOVELOCK, Mary d of John (of Blackpill) age 3 21 Mar 1821, LOVELOCK, Harriet (of Blackpill) age 16 23 Sep 1827, LOVELOCK, Raechel (of Blk Pill) age 21 [Note that Blackpill or Black Pill is an area just north of Oystermouth, on the coast road going from Swansea to the Mumbles] We already had the 1816 marriage of Daniel Lovelock and Jane Rees, and the births and baptisms of their twin daughters, as part of the Lyneham Line. However, the records above include some additonal details such as the witnesses of the marriage and the fact that Daniel was a Gardner at Maels (recall that he was later a gardner at Brewood, Staffs). I couldn't find Maels, but there is an area of Swansea just north of Oystermouth called Mayals, which is probably the same place. It is right next to Black Pill - see above. This leaves a question concerning the baptisms of the children of John and Mary, followed by their rather tragic burials. I'm pretty sure that the John Lovelock in question is not part of my Glamorgan Loveluck line, since there is no likely candidate, and I was wondering if he could be the younger brother of Daniel, baptised at Cherhill 2 Jan 1773. We don't currently have any further information on what became of him. The only suitable marriage of a John Lovelock to a Mary that I could find was that of John Lovelock and Mary Foyle 29 Jan 1798 at Shrewton, but we currently have this couple as progenitors of the Shrewton Tree, with 7 children all baptised at Shrewton with parents John & Mary L. The Oystermouth baptsim records don't include Harriet (who was bur 21 Mar 1821 age 16, so born abt 1805) and I couldn't find a suitable baptism record for her in Wilts either. In the Lovelocks in Glamorgan file there are also probable burial records for the parents John & Mary as follows: *Neath Burials* /The NBI 2nd ed has the following burials for Neath, St Thomas:/ 1837 Jun 30 John Lovelock, 65 1840 Jan 20 Mary Lovelock, 74 The burial for John in 1837 aged 65 would mean that he was born abt 1772, which is consistent with the baptism record at Cherhill 2 Jan 1773. Any comments or ideas as to how we could substaniate my hypothesis would be very welcome! James
