James -------- Original Message -------- Subject: More about Percy Lovelock Date: Fri, 16 Sep 2005 09:42:09 -0600 From: Eileen Adkins <[email protected]> To: Lovelock Mailing list <[email protected]> Thank you to all you kind Lovelock researchers who have pointed me to the back history of Percy's father William Henry Lovelock who was born at Westcott, near Sparsholt in Berkshire. Percy was born in Mile End Old Town in the September quarter of 1879. He married my great aunt Eliza Bailey Hobbs in the September quarter of 1904 at Hackney. Eliza was born in Glasgow 21 May 1870 but returned to Hackney where her father William Hobbs had been born before she was 4 years old. Her mother died and her father married again and my grandmother was her half sister. Percy & Eliza had 2 daughters. One was Ena and she had serious health problems. She might be the Ena born 1906. Their other daughter Cecelia married George Harry Fairey in the December quarter of 1921. He was from Olney in Bucks and they had met during WW1 when George came to London. My mother and George's sister Winnie were the bridesmaids. This was Winnie's first visit to London and she was 16. Later when our house was damaged by doodle bugs falling nearby we decamped to Olney and my sister and I were looked after by Winnie in a cottage that had no running water, no drains and only gas lighting. The Fairey's house at the other end of Olney was quite different. I did meet Aunt Eliza during WW11 - I'm pretty sure she was a widow by then - I have 1953 as her year of death but that may be a guess. Cecelia, known to us as Cissie, lived in Olney from 1921 until her death. George pre-deceased her. This is as much as I know about this Lovelock family group. Perhaps if anyone knows when Cecelia was born they could let me know. Congratulations on all the Lovelock information on your web sites. Eileen
