Hi all Have just rechecked LDS film 1279365 (PRs) and film 1279393 (BTs) of Easton Royal in an effort to reconcile the differences between Malcolm Lovelock's data and my own. I have sent the updated Lovelocks in Wiltshire file to James and Malcolm separately since I can't attach to this list. If any of you want the update, email me separately and I'll be happy to send it. All entries which I had and Malcolm didn't are correct with a very small number of exceptions as listed below. All entries Malcolm had which I didn't are correct with a very small number of exceptions as listed below. (Pays to have more than one person check a film! Very easy to miss or misread detail). Where a question mark remains it still is not possible to be sure from the film. The entry is just too faint or smudged to be sure. Fortunately, there's only a very small number of these. The only way of checking these is to have someone check the actual parish register itself which might be clearer than the film. Malcolm's baptism entries for Portlock: 1744 Mar 5 Richard son of Robert and Mary Portlock are definitely not 'Lovelock' entries and have been deleted. The following baptism entry in the IGI: 1748 Feb 12 John Lovelock son of Thomas Lovelock and Mary could not be found in either the PRs or BTs despite a pretty thorough search. I think this entry has been confused with an identical entry for a burial. I have therefore deleted. The following baptism entry is definitely 'Jeny' 1751 Jan 19 on the same day was Bapt Jeny Daughter of John Lovelock & Ann his wife The Hawkings/Jone Lovelock baptisms have been amended: 1753/4 Jan 27 Willm Son of John Hawkence & Jone his wife Bapt Jany 27, 1754 1757 Aug 7 Jeny Daughter of John Hawkence & Jone his wife Bapt Aug 7, 1757 1755 Dec 14 Ann Daughter of John Hawkings & Jone his wife Bapt Decr 14, 1755 1759 May 13 Sarah Daughter of John hawkence & Jone his wife Bap May 13, 1759 Jone is probably Joane Lovelock bp 16.2.1716/17. It is of course rather unusual to be getting married for the first time at this age and we should look for an earlier marriage in another parish. Their daughter born in 1757 is Jeny not Jane. The baptism entry: 1768 Dec 30 Leaver/Leave ye son of Richard Lovlock and Mary his wife baptized December ye 30, 1768 is uncertain. The LDS Vital Records has 'Leave' but the entry is smudged. Personally I think it's 'Leaver'. Malcolm thought so too. In both of these baptism entries 1775 is correct: 1774 Feb 12 Rich Son of Rich & Mary Lovelock Feb 12 (R & M) (LDS Vital Records has 12 Feb 1775 not 1774) 1774 Mar 19 Baptized John Son of Edward & Ann Lovelock (R) (LDS Vital Records has 19 Mar 1775 not 1774) In this baptism entry 18 is correct. 1781 Nov 13 Bap Edward son of Edward & Ann Lovlock (R) (LDS has 18 Nov 1781 not 13.) In this baptism entry 1792 is correct. 1787 Nov 25 Bapt Fanny Bastard of Avis Lovelock (R) (LDS has 25 Nov 1792) In the baptism entry 1826 Sep 17 John son of Phebe Lovelock, Abode: Camberwell Camberwell is correct. In marriages, I located the entries I could not locate before: '1727-1741 appear to be missing' They are on a single page in the register and out of sequence. They occur before marriages for 1695. They are very faint and difficult to read. The year for this marriage entry is definitely 1729 which makes more sense with the baptism entries: 1719 Sep 22 Richeard Lovflick and Elizabeth pyke both of this parish married September 22 The marriage entry: 1735 Apr 6 Charles Sanfurd and -----? Lovelock which Malcolm found I cannot read. It is simply too faint on the film. It might be Lovelock. If so, it is Joannah Lovelock as I found some later Sanford baptisms (see below). This would almost certainly make it Joanna Lovelock baptised 1713/14 in this parish. The only way of double checking this entry is for someone to check the original parish register which might be clearer. In this entry, 'hawkence' and 'Jone' is correct: 1749 Dec 3 John hawkence & Jone Lovelock was married Decembr the 3, 1749 In this entry, Susanna is correct: 1799 Aug 12 William Lovelock of this parish, bachelor & Susanna Giddings, of this parish, Spinster. By Banns. Both put their marks. Witnesses: Richard Hamblin, Jonathon Culley. (R&M - M has Susannah) In Burials, I could not locate the following entry which Malcolm found: 1742 Oct 24 Thomas son of Thomas Lovelock (deleted) However, I did find: 1741 Oct 2 Henry s of Thomas Liflok mary b October 2 (inserted) Henry is unclear but it is definitely NOT Thomas. These burial entries are definitely Portlock and have been deleted: 1744 Sep 29 Richard son Robert and Mary Portlock(?) 1752 Mar 4 Mary Lovelock daughter of Robert Portlock? 1763 Jan 26 Robert Lovelock(Portlock?) This entry is definitely 1758 not 1748: 1758 Mar 24 Mary ye wife of Richard Lovelock buried March ye 24, 1758(R&M-Malcolm has 1748/58) This entry could not be found despite a thorough search of PRs and has been deleted: 1762 Oct 26 John Lovelock In these duplicate entries, Dec NOT Nov is correct: 1779 Dec 29 Buried John Lovelock 1779 Nov 29 Buried John Lovelock In this entry, Feb 19 should be Feb 9: 1783 Feb 19 Buried Mary Lovlock I also went looking for any further offspring of Joane Lovelock (who married John Hawkins), Joanna Lovelock (who married Charles Sanford), Jane Lovelock (who married Philip Doust) Avis Lovelock (who married William Treson) and Sarah Lovelock (who married John Elliatt) with results as follows. I also located a few relevant burials.
