Hi all Have been down to Society of Australian Genealogists again - checking all those wonderful fiche of PRs in Oxfordshire. As you will all be aware, some of the Oxfordshire parishes were previously in Berkshire - prior to the county reorganisation. For consistency, I attribute all the parishes to the ancient parish boundaries. As usual, I will send the updated county parish files to James, as I can't send the attachment through this list. However, if you would like the updated copy of the entire PR for the updated counties of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, email me individually and I will send it separately - preferably in 'zipped' (compressed) format as they are now getting quite large. Here's the new material I found. I am now about half way through the Oxfordshire fiche. Wantage Marriages 1538-1653 (Modern Transcript) 1592 Oct 23 William Lovelock and Margery Adams 1616 Oct 20 William Lovelock and Katheren Leeke Wantage, Berkshire Burials 1542-1653 (Modern Transcript) 1615 Dec 31 Margery Lovelock 1617 Aug 3 Katherine Lovelock 1625/26 Jan 9 William Lovelocke 1641/42 Mar 11 Katherine Lovelocke, vidua [widow] Warborough [St Laurence], Oxfordfordshire Marriages 1538-1974 1810 Sep 24 William Lovelock, St Mary Wallingford and Kitty Cherrill, Dorchester. By Licence. Witnesses: Vincent Cherrill, Mary Lovelock *Note: This marriage is on my own (and of course Gwen Eastment's) direct line and we already had the detail although I did not have a source. William Lovelock was born in 1786, the son of John Lovelock (The Elder) and Mary Whitwick. Watchfield, Berkshire Marriages 1858-1958 1915 Aug 2 William Oliver Lovelock, 39, widower, carpenter, Milton Lilbourne, son of George Lovelock, Smith and Anna Isabel Pocock, 33, spinster, daughter of David Pocock, Builder, Witnesses: David Pocock, Eliza Taylor, Kaye Berrett *Note. William Oliver Lovelock was almost certainly baptised: 1875 Apr 18 William Oliver son of George & Harriet Lovelock, Abode: Wootton Rivers, Blacksmith The marriage of his parents we already have at Wootton Rivers: 1872 Mar 9 George Lovelock, Father David & Harriet Ruddle Father: William. Witnesses John William Lovelock and Sarah Lovelock I believe George Loveock in turn was born at Wootton Rivers: 1846 Jun 7 George son of David & Harriet Lovelock, Abode: Wootton Rivers, Mason His brother John William was born at Wootton Rivers in 1845 and sister Matilda in 1848. David's marriage at Wootton Rivers is almost certainly: 1841 Oct 14 David Lovelock Father: John & Harriet Ruddell Father: George. Wit: James Lovelock, James Porton David in turn was very likely the David also baptised at Wootton Rivers: 1814 Sep 4 David son of John & Elizabeth Lovelock, Abode: Wootton Rivers, Brick-Layer His brother James was born at Wootton Rivers in 1830. I cannot locate a suitable marriage for a John Lovelock to an Elizabeth about 1814. There is a marriage in 1777 of a John Lovelock (from Wootton Rivers) to an Elizabeth in Burbage but the marriage is really too early for the same Elizabeth to be still producing children in 1830. I rather think their children are the ones baptised in Wootton Rivers between 1778 and 1797. So ok you Lovelock sleuths. Let's see what you can do with it!! There's a challenge! Now to continue the PR extractions. Watlington, Oxfordshire Baptisms 1635-1842 (Modern Transcript) 1811 Jan 29 Sarah d. James Lovelock & Sarah 1812 Apr 3 John Tho: s. Wheatley Burials 1813-1983 (Modern Transcript) 1873 Jan 5 William Lovelock, age 62 1884 Feb 14 Mary Lovelock, age 70, Southsea, Hants. *Most likely William L. and Mary Hudswell. That means William L. was born abt 1811 and was therefore not William George L. bn 1786. So who was William L bn abt 1811, grocer and draper? The most likely match is in Wallingford St Mary Le More, Berkshire (Wallingford is on the border of Oxfordshire): 1810 Dec 25 LOVELOCK William s. William and Catharine. William senior was a 'victualler" and was baptising several children in Wallingford from 1810. Almost certainly William and Catherine are William George Lovelock and Catherine Cherril who married in Warborough, Oxfordshire in 1810! Catherine (or 'Kitty') Lovelock was buried at Wallingford in 1824. William L. remarried a Hannah Gibb in 1829 and had at least two more children to her. Gwen Eastment has only one offspring of William Lovelock and Kitty Cherrill: James L. bn 8th April, 1820 at Henley on Thames, Berkshire. This is of course not consistent with the baptism of James L. s. William L. and Catherine in the Berkshire PR: James is shown as baptised 1818 Jan 18 at Wallingford. I will need to get Gwen to try and check her source. Now continuing with the extractions from Oxfordshire PRs: Stoke Talmage Baptisms 1670, 1721-1900 (Modern Transcript) 1852 Oct 17 James s.
